REPLACING YOUR VEHICLE GLASS

Replacement Windscreen

Where possible we will always try and Repair any damage to your windscreen, although sometimes the damage will mean your windscreen has to be replaced.
At Autoglaze U.K we use glass manufactured to OEM standards, this will ensure the glass we use will be as good as or better than the glass we replace.

How we replace your windscreen

The first step in replacing your new windscreen is to protect areas of the bodywork and interior from damage.

Next we cut out the damaged windscreen and remove any trims and clips, the aperture of the vehicle is then cleaned up ready for installation.

An activator is then applied to both the aperture of the vehicle and the new windscreen, this will ensure all areas are clean from oil and dirt to achieve a strong and proper bond.

A special polyurethane Bonding is then applied, and the new windscreen is carefully fitted into the vehicle along with any trims and clips *.

The Urethane needs at least 60 minutes to set and we recommend the vehicle is not driven or moved until after this time.

*(Where possible we will always try to use any old trims and clips to save you money, however in some cases old trims and clips may need replacing with new ones. We will always quote for these where required).

Side Windows

In most cases, if your side window is damaged it will need replacing. At Autoglaze U.K we use glass manufactured to OEM standards, this will ensure the glass we use will be as good as or better than the glass we replace.

How we replace your side window

The first step in replacing your side window, is to remove as much of the shattered glass as possible. This will include cleaning around the frame and behind any door panels, we will also remove any fragments found within your vehicle to keep it clean and tidy as long as electricity is available and not wet.

The next step is to carefully fit the new side window into your vehicle. If we are replacing a door glass we will then check to make sure the glass opens & closes properly as sometimes window mechanisms get damaged when glass is smashed.

Once the new side window has been fitted, we check again for any glass fragments, fit any interior door panels and clean the glass.

The job is now complete.

Rear Windows

In most cases, if your rear window is damaged it will need replacing. At Autoglaze u.k we use glass manufactured to OEM standards, this will ensure the glass we use will be as good as or better than the glass we replace.

How we replace your rear window

The first step in replacing your rear window, is to remove as much of the shattered glass as possible. We clean both the interior and exterior of your vehicle whilst ensuring we protect the body of your vehicle. We then remove any seals or bonding that hold the rear window in place.

We then apply any Activator and Primer if required to the vehicle’s framework, before applying a polyurethane adhesive. This will ensure a strong and proper fit is achieved.

The new rear window is carefully fitted into the vehicle, along with any fittings that are required. The urethane will need at least 60 minutes to set, and we recommend the vehicle is not driven or moved until after this time.

The job is now complete.
